The great thing about how our bodies work is that the better we feel, the healthier we are, the better and more beautiful the world around us will seem. In fact, you can use your current view of the world to determine just how healthy you are. That is because, while it is ok to be aware of the dangers that directly threaten you or the planet, being overly obsessed with them and always being worried or depressed about one thing or another shows that there might actually be something wrong with your health rather than with the world itself. And here are a few things that you should mind.
Mind your diet: what we eat directly interferes with how our brain works and if you are having any doubts about that just think about how a cup of coffee in the morning can bring you back to life or how a glass of wine in the evening will make the lights around seem brighter. And a full-fat steak with chips can have an equally powerful effect. In fact, if you were to think about it, you would probably realize that every time you eat a big meal you do get a sense of satisfaction but also you get a little groggy and moody and that is why most people will instinctively feel the need to drink some alcohol after their meals. But the fats in those meals will stay in your system for many days after the effects of that drink will have worn off so try to enjoy more salads and fruits which, although not as gratifying to the stomach, will leave you feeling more positive and upbeat.
Focus on your physical activities: because more and more studies are beginning to show that, as excellent half an hour of intense work out every day can be for you, spending the rest 23 and a half hours at your desk, on a couch and in a bed will still prevent your energy from flowing all through your body. So remember Forest Gump’s motto “from that day on, if I was going somewhere, I was running”. You don’t need to run but walk fast, use stairs instead of elevators and, if all else fails, every 2 hours or so drop to the floor and do a few pushups just to remind your body that it is alive.
Do something towards relaxation: some people still have a problem with yoga since you do need to be pretty bendy and patient to be able to use it properly, but Tai Chi or Chi Gong are some very powerful alternatives. Remember that one of the reasons why the Eastern countries did not develop a high tech medicine for thousands of years was that they were able to relax so deeply and yet remain so alert that their own flow of energy would keep them healthy and happy.
Give up your addictions: no one can take in a wisp of smoke or drink until the floor starts moving and not know, even if it is in the deepest, darkest corner of their mind, that it is not healthy. However, an addiction is a terrible thing to fight so try to use some of the smarter ways that have been developed to get over smoking and drinking. Try to use some of the techniques that use the power of your own mind instead of patches and alcohol-free beers.
Seek healthy entourages: if your child starts hanging around in a gang you will try to take him away from that environment so why do you allow yourself to spend time with people who are negative, sick and self-destructing. Today there are communities of people who strive for a beautiful, bright life popping up everywhere and simply sharing their company will help you feel better about yourself.
